PA students are strictly prohibited from working for the PA program. Students must never substitute for or function as instructional faculty, clinical staff, or administrative staff.
Students must be clearly identified in the clinical setting to distinguish them from other health profession students & practitioners. A university-issued PA Student badge & white coat are required at all times.
To avoid conflicts of interest, the program director, medical director, & principal faculty are precluded from participating as healthcare providers for students in the program, except in emergency situations.
Before undertaking educational activities that pose a risk, students are trained on prevention & post-exposure care. In the event of an exposure (e.g., needle stick), the financial responsibility for care & treatment rests solely with the student.
